The Challenging Chase for Nutrigenetic Predictors of Metabolic Responses to Dietary Interventions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Development of the metabolic syndrome (MetS) is influenced by genetic and environmental factors. It is of interest to identify genetic factors associated with changes in MetS in response to dietary interventions to maximize the individual benefits gained from preventive or therapeutic measures (i.e., personalized nutrition). In this issue of Diabetes Care, Qi et al. (1) examined the contributions of two genetic variants (rs1522813 and rs2943641) near the insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) gene and their interactions with dietary fat intake on the reversion of the MetS using the data of the Preventing Overweight Using Novel Dietary Strategies (POUNDS LOST) study.

متن کاملGene–Dairy Food Interactions and Health Outcomes: A Review of Nutrigenetic Studies
Each person differs from the next by an average of over 3 million genetic variations in their DNA. This genetic diversity is responsible for many of the interindividual differences in food preferences, nutritional needs, and dietary responses between humans. The field of nutrigenetics aims to utilize this type of genetic information in order to personalize diets for optimal health. One of the m...

Nutrigenetics/nutrigenomics (the study of the bidirectional interactions between genes and diet) is a rapidly developing field that is changing research and practice in human nutrition. Though eventually nutrition clinicians may be able to provide personalized nutrition recommendations, in the immediate future they are most likely to use this knowledge to improve dietary recommendations for pop...
متن کاملPhysiological, Biochemical and Metabolic Responses of Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) as Affected by Early Heat Stress and Dietary Treatment
The main objective of this study was to elucidate the effect of short- term exposure of Japanese quail eggs to acute high incubation temperature on embryonic development and on the ability of post- hatched chicks to cope with subsequent heat stress conditions during the growing period. A total of 998 Japanese quail eggs were divided into two groups, the first group (470 eggs) was maintained at ...
